COLONIE – Eileen U. Nopper, 67, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Downs. Mrs. Nopper resided in Colonie for the past thirty-seven years. She retired from New York State Dept. of Corrections. Eileen was a communicant of Christ Our Light Catholic Church, formerly St. Francis de Sales in Loudonville. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Eileen is the beloved wife of thirty-seven years to Harry F. Nopper. She is the devoted mother of James D. (Jamie) Harrigan, Susan A. (John) Schillinger, Todd M. (Heather) Harrigan and Joseph E. (Valerie) Nopper. She is the loving sister of Sister Patricia Downs S.B.S., Mary Buffoline and the late Kathleen Buffaline. Eileen is the cherished grandmother of Katie and Jimmy, Johhny, Trinity, Aiden, Cooper and Addison. She is the sister-in-law of Elaine (Lee) Sweeney and Gerald (the late Elizabeth) Nopper. Also surviving is her dear friend, Mary Alice Kennedy and several nieces and nephews.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Light Catholic Church Food Pantry, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of Eileen U. Nopper.
