In Memory Of
Michael Frank, Sr.
1917 - 2015

Our Pa's life ended 10/6/15 at the Teresian House but his influence will be felt for generations.

The son of the late George Franko and Mary Korchinski, born in Little Falls 11/22/1917. He was devoted to his late wife Edna (Larive) for 71 years. He was predeceased by his beloved and loving daughter Barbara Santspree (Paul). His living descendents are his son Michael, Jr., (Maureen), Grandchildren Michelle M. DiCarmine, Paul J. Santspree, Michael E. Frank (Lina), Matthew A. Frank (Heather), Melanie L. Santspree, and, Joshua D. Frank. Also four great grand and two great-great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was a quiet, contemplative, unassuming, workaholic, a family man, a jack of all trades. He was a second generation Ukrainian, whose father was widowed when Mike was a boy, so he began hard labor on farms as a child. He worked as a blacksmith for the D&H railroad, and in the Army during WWII in France and Germany. After the war, he worked construction at Fane, Inc. in Troy until retiring at 64. No job was too small or big and many of his construction projects still stand in the capital district. He belonged to the local union, but was often taking the role of mason, electrician, plumber, HVAC, or anything the job called for. For all those years he rarely took time off or vacationed.

In retirement he became a nanny, for many of his grand and great grandchildren and their animals. He was always willing to help with home projects. A hero to many, in times of crises, he would come to the rescue. He had few passions but liked to tinker with everything. He liked cigars, animals (domestic and wild), fishing, cars, gardening, cooking and eating and just being busy. Age diminished his strikingly handsome youth but not his dry humor, coy personality and wry smile, which won him many female admirers at the adult and nursing homes late in life. His physical health and strength endured until the end. The enemy was dementia, which has stolen our beloved Pa away, but we have fantastic
memories and stories to last generations.

A memorial of his life will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, from 3-5 on Sunday October 11, 2015. Donations may be made to the Loudonville Assisted Living Residence, 298 Albany-Shaker Rd. Loudonville, 12211 or The Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave Ext, Albany, 12203, or the charity of your choice.
