Troy- William C. Redden Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Van Rensselaer Manor. William was comforted by his wife, Lorraine and son and daughters who have been by his side during his fight with Alzheimer’s.

Born in Catskill, New York he was the son of John Redden and Pearl (Schaefer) Redden. Bill attended the Albany Public School System and later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In his younger years, Bill played football with the Troy Bulldogs. Bill loved taking pictures at the family events and especially treasured his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill will be remembered for his quick wit and his ability to make you laugh. He loved the New York Giants and New York Mets. Bill started out driving trucks and delivering beer for Ruch Distributers and later drove a bus for CDTA, retiring in 1994.

Bill is predeceased by his sister Dorothy and brothers, Jack, Therron and Eddie as well as his granddaughter, Jaime Lynn Tymchyn.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lorraine (Turmel) Redden, son; William Redden Jr. (Linda), daughters, Linda Tymchyn (Harry), Kate Bovia (Kevin) and Christine Van Baaren (Michael). Bill is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s Association online at Alz.Org/Donate.

The family would like to thank the entire nursing staff and aides on the A1 Unit of Van Rensselaer for all the care given to Bill.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 9:00am-11:00am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York 12205. A memorial service will follow starting at 11:00am with interment and full military honors taking place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
