Albany - Karen (Pohl) Seyboth, 47, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on August 17, 2017 at her home after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on January 31, 1970 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of Robert E. and Mary Lou (Couser) Pohl.
Karen was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Maria College and St. Rose with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked for the Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) as the Director of their Ontario Street facility. Her work with the children and their families was a great source of joy. In her free time, Karen loved to spend time outdoors. She especially enjoyed camping. She had a passion for dogs, and would often dog sit for anyone in need.
Karen was a woman of tremendous faith and was an active member of Life Church in Latham. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all. She will be remembered for her courage and strength and for always putting her “feet on the floor.”
In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 16 years, Gary Seyboth; her precious children: Julia and Logan; her brothers: Robert (Luci) Pohl and Thomas Pohl and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by her faithful companions, Switchie and BearBear.
Karen’s family wishes to offer their gratitude to Dr. Rufus Collea and the staff of NYOH and the staff of Community Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 10:00am at Life Church, 687 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Karen’s name to New York Oncology. http://newyorkoncology.com/treatments-programs/supportive-care/nyoh-community-cancer-foundation/ or mail to 449 Route 146 Suite 101, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
