NISKAYUNA - Dennis P. Fiato, 70, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born on June 5, 1943 in Albany and was the son of the late Palm S. and Dorothy L. (Salerno) Fiato. He was employed with the Times Union from 1969 to 1995. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus Council #3394 and a former member of the Elks in Guilderland. He enjoyed playing guitars, writing music and traveling to Maine. He was also a big supporter of the Special Olympics.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Bonnie B. (Hoy) Fiato; his sons, Randy D. Fiato and Kurt P. Fiato; his daughter, Denise (Gary) Greer; his grandchildren, Alexandra and Spencer Osborne; his brothers, John (Rita) Fiato and Michael Fiato; his sisters, Linda (Frank) Bauer and Pamela Fiato; his mother-in-law, Dolores Hoy (the late Morris); his brothers-in-law, Ronald (Janis) Hoy and Terry (Lillian) Hoy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Memory Gardens, Colonie.
