Bettie attended Mount Olive Baptist Church from the age of 4 years old under the leadership of the late Rev. Odell Surgick where she was baptized at the
age of 10; continuing her Christian experience under Reverend Willie J. Stovall.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Napoleon Burley and her children: Tonya D. Bynum-Banks, Kiamesha J. Wright and Samuel Wright II, stepchildren LaQuana Burley and Napoleon Burley, Jr. Eighteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, two God daughters, one sister Florence Demmitt (Vernon), three brothers Steven Jenkins, William Earl Robinson and Eric White, seven brothers in-law and two sisters in-law. One aunt, Jeanette Williams. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including one best friend for nearly 50 years Vivian Leroy (David).
She has several deceased brothers – George Jr., Alton (Rickey), Roystein (Teenie), James (Louie), David Nelson, Harvey Lee and Keith Allen Jenkins.
Bettie Sue attended Albany Public Schools including School #5 for 6 years, Phillip Livingston Jr. High then to Schuyler High School where she graduated in 1969. She then attended ABC Business College where she graduated with her Associates degree. She was employed by New York State in the Accounting Division and a community activist in the Arbor Hill region during her free time where she opened a community center and orchestrated fundraisers to take the children of Arbor Hill and surrounding communities to Riverside Fun Park in Massachusetts. She then worked at St. Peters’ Hospital for over 20 years completing five different positions before retiring as a Clinical Engineer. She continued her employment with Home Care by Molina as a Nurse's Aide working with Don & Sandra Rubin until her untimely passing.
