ALBANY ---- John William Shea, 72, of Albany, beloved brother and uncle passed away on August 5, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born in Albany on March 1, 1950, the son of the late John F. and Anna M. (Kearns) Shea. John was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy. He served in the U.S. Air Force from March 1969 through April 1983. Following his military service, John worked for Freihofer’s Baking Company in Albany until he retired.

Mr. Shea was a long-time member of the Joseph Zaloga American Legion Post #1520. He was a sports enthusiast and found enjoyment in watching football, basketball, and baseball. Some of his favorite teams to watch were the San Francisco 49ers, Boston Celtics, and the New York Mets.

Survivors include, one brother, Jerry Shea of Albany and three sisters, Carol VanWie, Susan Shea, of Albany, and Eileen (Edward) Kruzinski of Delanson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Kathleen Shea, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Shea.

Relatives and friends are invited to his calling hours on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon. Entombment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
