Gisela J. "Gigi" Wilson
1943 - 2021

LAKE PLACID - Gisela “Gigi” J. Wilson, age 78, passed away surrounded by family at Ellis Hospital on July 31, 2021.

She was born in Thorn, Germany, the daughter of the late Erich and Frida Feltz. She was also predeceased by her husband, Raymond Wilson.

Gisela was a Beautician for over 40 years, working at multiple salons throughout the Lake Placid region. She was an avid lover of animals, as you would always find her with a pet by her side. She loved the outdoors, particularly the Adirondacks. Mom enjoyed walking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. She painted Bavarian folk art and loved to quilt. She was fiercely proud of her German heritage and passed down many wonderful traditions to her family. She loved to bake and she also loved to eat! Her grand-daughters were her pride and joy, as they lovingly referred to her as “Omi.” She loved to tell them stories and bake cookies with them. Gigi was able to make friends wherever she went, recently befriending several residents in her new home in Glenville. She took life in stride, no matter how difficult things may have been - especially recently. She was strong-willed, independent and all the while, caring to any and all.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Matthew and Ana Callaghan; former spouse, Harold Callaghan; grandchildren: Sara and Sofia Callaghan; brother, Harry Feltz.

All services will be private, per her wishes.

Memorial contributions in Gisela’s name may be made to the ASPCA, as Mom never wanted to see any animals suffer.
