HANNACROIX - Robert P. McNally, 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Teresian House in Albany, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on September 21, 1946 in Albany, son of the late Robert and Lorraine (Hamel) McNally. He served honorably in the Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he graduated from Russell Sage College with a bachelors degree in Political Science. He joined the Capital Police in 1969 and the NYS Police in 1997 with a total of 34 years of service until he retired in 2003.
His favorite sports were Baseball, Basketball, Canadian Hockey and Football. Some of his favorite teams were, the Minnesota Vikings, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, and the Phoenix Suns. He enjoyed playing baseball, flag football and was an umpire for St. Pius X baseball little league and an assistant coach for high school football. His hobbies included, collecting all sports cards, going to card shows and attending Tri-City ValleyCats games with his friend, Al. He had a love of history, especially the Civil War and the Wild West. He also loved going to the ocean, where he brought his family on many amazing trips.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sheila J. (Laramy) McNally; his loving children: twins Laura and Christopher McNally, Colleen McNally and Darren (Erin) McNally and soon to be granddaughter, Gianna; his siblings, Matthew (Kathy) McNally, Elaine (Tom) Day and Laura Hegeman and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at St. Pius the X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Interment will follow the mass at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mayo Clinic for Alzheimers, Dept. of Development, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905 or to the Salesian Missions (for the children), 2 Lefvre Lane, New Rochelle, NY 10801 in memory of Robert P. McNally.
