Kimberly B. Jones-Martini
1955 - 2021

Kimberly B. Jones-Martini, born January 13, 1955 was taken home to the loving arms of God at 12:48 PM on Sunday July 18, 2021. She was held in the arms of her loving husband, Victor, as she passed at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY. She died from long-term complications of experimental treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that she received at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In her teenage years, when her friends went off to college, she went off to Roswell Park. Always strong and courageous she faced life inquisitively, deliberatively, and bravely, saying “we’re all going to die… the difference for me is, I’m like a banana – I have an expiration date”.

Earning her bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Albany, she graduated in 1994 with highest honors, Summa Cum Laude, and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Not impressed with honors, she would say “yeah, big deal, I’m a big-a-ma phig-a-ma”.

Her career path crossed many passionate endeavors. She developed and operated an arts and crafts program at The Charlton School. She worked as costume mistress and projectionist at Proctor’s Theater in Schenectady. She catered for special performers at Proctor’s Theater, the Palace Theater in Albany, and Page Hall Performing Arts Center at SUNY Albany. At one such venue, a Swiss performing group begged her to come to Europe with their tour and cook for them. Fortunately for her husband, she declined the offer. She worked as Display Manager for The Open Door Bookstore in Schenectady. She was especially passionate in her job as Clozaril Systems Consultant for Novartis Pharmaceuticals. Her job was assuring safety to avoid a potentially fatal side-effect for those taking this antipsychotic medication. She organized support groups for those taking the drug, engaging people in discussions, creating a supportive network, offering crafts, activities and compassion to all.

She will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness for others – always putting people above her own wants and needs. “Strong-willed” is an understatement in describing her, and “caring” falls short of capturing her true nature.

Kimberly has always been passionate about social issues. She gave generously to local groups – especially CREATE Community Studios, an organization with a wonderful program for children from all walks of life. She also contributed regularly to the City Mission of Schenectady. But most important to her, she gave to individuals in need. She would remain unruffled and calm when drivers would honk their horns repeatedly at her while she stopped, so often, to give generously to homeless and needy individuals at the side of the road.

Kim was pre-deceased by her mother, Chrystal (Boppert) Jones, her father, Jerome F. Jones, her loving brother, Gregory David Jones, and her father-in-law, Arthur J. Martini.

Kimberly is survived by her loving husband, Victor, her mother-in-law, Marie Martini, her sister-in-law, Mary Martini Faith, her brother-in-law, Peter Faith, her niece, Amanda Martini-Hughes, her step-children, Kevin C. O’Brien, Heather O’Brien Kerzner, Layla Wieczorek Carnahan, and Mark O’Brien as well as numerous loving cousins.

She is known affectionately by friends as “Mrs. Magic”. She will live in the hearts of many for her magical ways. A memorial will be planned for a future date.

Kim will be interred at Parkview Cemetery in Schenectady, NY.
