Marie Lea Derico (Lee) , 78, of Schenectady, NY ,passed away peacefully on February 25, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving children and fur babies.

Born in in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late L. Joseph and Irene (Favreau) Rivest of Cohoes NY. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School and HVCC.

Marie (Lee) was employed by the State Of New York as a Budget Analyst for over 30 years while raising her two children. She retired in 2005 . Lee loved to spend her free time reading, traveling, attending musicals at Proctor’s theatre with her friends (her favorite being Les Miserables), swimming with her friends at Sunnyview, and spending time with her two grandchildren whom she loved to the moon and back. Lee was an active member of the Lisha Kill Reformed church where she served many roles including Deacon.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Rivest.

Lee is survived by her loving children Gina M. DeSimone, Christopher B. Derico (Crystal), her grandchildren, Robert DeSimone and Maya Derico, brothers Michael Rivest and Colonel (retired) U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps Mark Rivest, nieces Sara Rivest, Caitlin Rivest, Kirsten Rivest, and nephew Michael Rivest.

The family would like to personally thank Jude Rabig for her guidance and unrelenting advocacy for their mother during this time. They would also like to thank Mom’s nurse Megan at Albany Med on E4 for her compassionate care and support of their mother.
