Cohoes - Joan A. McCarthy , 89, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, January 16, 2021 with her loving son, Daniel by her side. Joan was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Parker. Joan was the devoted wife to the late Robert L. McCarthy.

Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and playing Bingo, Bonco and utilizing her calendar book to keep track of every single family member and events, with each one receiving their yearly card from Grandma, Great Grandma, Great-Great Grandma, Sisters, Brothers, Nieces and Nephews all around the globe.

Joan is survived by her children, Daniel M. McCarthy, Cathy "Cate" (Buddy) Foy, Joann Johnson, and Karen (Mike) Bloomer; her 14 grandchildren; her 34 great grandchildren, and her 1 great-great grandchild. Joan is also survived by her brothers, George (Joann) Parker and William (Marge) Parker, and her sisters-in-law, Judy Parker and Mary Parker.

Joan is predeceased by her sons, Michael McCarthy and Robert McCarthy; her brothers, Jimmy Parker, Thomas Parker and John Parker, her sister, Catherine (Frank) Purritano and her brother-in-law, Calvin (Eileen) McCarthy.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
