In Memory Of
Ida Mae Jones
1932 - 2021

Ida Mae Jones, age 88, was born September 26, 1932 in Matherville, MS. She was the 2nd of 11 children of the late Johnnie Johnson and Ida Horne Johnson.

Having completed an elementary education, Ida Mae knew she had many talents one of which she turned into a profession. She worked as a Seamstress for more than 40 years at Albany Medical Center. Prior to retiring, she transitioned into culinary where she was infamously known for her pizza making skills.

Ida Mae accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. Throughout her adulthood, she worshipped at Macedonia Baptist Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Philanthropically, she served as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. God-fearing, strong, loving, hardworking, lively, witty and a straight shooter merely scratch the surface when describing our matriarch.

Growing up visiting her parents juke joint, she loved to dance and continued to have a love for music into adulthood. She was an avid gardener and savvy shopper. Name it and she grew it! Show her an ad and she beat the price! When she wasn’t on the go, she loved spending time with her family and making her “out of this world” buttermilk biscuits!

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Ida Mae was called home to be with the Lord.

Ida Mae was predeceased by her husband Johnnie B. Jones, son Jerry Jones (Robin) and daughter Cynthia Jones.

Celebrating her life, legacy and love are her son Larry B. Jones (Brenda); brothers Obie Johnson (Annie Reatha), Frank “Cadillac” Johnson (Pinkie) and Timothy Johnson (Rose); her God-daughter Robin Cooley (Ronnie); brothers in law Al Jones (Diane) and Elmore Jones (Lucy); sister in law Jean Jones; beloved friends Diane Smith and Calvin Bynum; grandchildren Natasha Thompson (Yahahn), Davon Jones (Jennifer), Jimmika Jones, Louis “Avon” Norwood (Tyler), Christopher Peoples, Jerry Javon Jones, Brittany Peoples, Monee Burt and Jevaris Little; and a host of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

“Grace was in all her steps, heaven in her eye, in every gesture dignity and love.”

The service will be streamed via Zoom, for details, Brittany Peoples is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
