Latham- Athanasios Stamoulis, 78, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2020, at home with his family.
He was born on March 28, 1941, son of the late Gerasimos and Maria (Milatou) Stamoulis in Cephalonia, Greece.

As a teenager, Athanasios joined the Greek merchant marine as a steward and eventually learned a trade as a ship’s cook. After traveling the world by sea for over a decade, he came to the United States in 1969, eventually marrying his beloved wife Stavroula and settling in the Capital Region where they would raise their two children. He started with nothing and after a few short years and a lot of hard work he became a restauranteur, proudly owning several area businesses until his retirement in 2013.

Athanasios is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Stavroula; children Maria and Gerasimos; sister Helen and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11am at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305. Interment will follow at Albany Rural Cemetery.
