WATERVLIET - Cheri Jo Abrams, 45, born in Troy, N.Y, suffering from a long illness of ALS passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, N.Y, with her loving family by her side.

She was the daughter of Joseph Abrams Jr. and Sherry (Noel) Julian. Survivors include her loving children, Ciara Mendez and Billy E. Fay. The love of her life Billy M. Fay Jr., a brother Joseph (Christine) Abrams. Survivor grandparent, Ursula Abrams, deceased grandparents Joseph Abrams Sr., Albert and Helen Ross. She is also survived by two nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who all admired her dearly.

Cheri Jo was one of a kind, and if you knew her you knew she had a heart of gold. She loved being around family and friends. She was a socialite who often made people smile by showing her funny sense of humor. She loved talking to people and making connections. She’s especially known for always lending a helping hand when someone was in need, even when they didn’t ask. She was an avid reader, mainly for God’s word. Cheri Jo loved going for walks, taking care of her cats and was recognized as a great cook. Her passion was to go back to school for Psychology or Drug Counseling.

The family would like to thank all of the aides, nurses and hospice workers who took wonderful care of Cheri Jo during her time of need.

As per the family’s wishes, the funeral services will be private.
