Joe was born and raised in Plattsburgh where hard work became his life. At the age of 13 he moved to Troy, New York. At age 14 Joe enlisted into the National Guard and then went on to serve in the United States Army serving in Korea. Following his honorable discharge Joe joined the Laborers Union 452 and then onto the Laborers Union 190. Being a “man of many trades” he also successfully ran his own construction business for many years. Joe did it all.
In addition to his loving wife Jackie, Joe is survived by his five children, Joseph N. LaBounty (Diane), Shane J. LaBounty (Kimberly), William G. LaBounty (Lyn), Robin J. Rifenburgh (Paul) and Lance W. LaBounty (Pamela). Joe was the loving “Pop” to his 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe is also survived by his siblings, June Hunt, Bruce LaBounty (Sandy) and Larry LaBounty.
Joe is also predeceased by his siblings, Earl LaBounty (Dale), Tony LaBounty, Ronnie LaBounty (Barbara), Howard LaBounty (Barbara) and Donna Lancto.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 4pm-8pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 12pm at the funeral home with interment following at Eagle Mills Cemetery.
