Barbara J. Trainor, 61 of Colonie, NY passed away peacefully on January 19, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones.

Home (and Family) is where the heart lives and that statement had never been more true when it came to Barb's outlook on life. A fierce defender of her family; Barb was not afraid to speak her mind but she had an absolute heart of gold. She had an incredible sense of humor and her laugh was infectious.

Over the last 30 years, Barb was the consummate caregiver for multiple family members and their children. Nothing brought more joy to Barb's life than a baby/child’s laughter. In recent years, Barb was blessed with the three lights of her life, they called her Nanny.

When it came to having a little fun, anyone who has ever met Barb, knows that she never met a casino she didn’t like. Give her a few hours, a slot machine, and a bucket of quarters, and Barb was a very happy lady.

Barb was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Newton and is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jack, her two sons, Anthony (Eric) & Todd (Kathy) and affectionately known as “Nanny” to her three precious grandchildren, Ashton, Avrey and Harper. She is also survived by her siblings Nancy, Mary, Art and Carol along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.

We have been truly blessed and Barb’s memory will live on through many wonderful family and friends who had the honor of knowing her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Barb's calling hours on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. Her funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family.

In keeping with Barb's love of children, the family asks in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made in Barb’s name to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
