On August 12th, 2018 at 1905 hours, “Maria” Chien Nguyen answered the Lord’s call surrounded by children and grandchildren. She was born on July 3rd, 1930 at Kim Bang HaNam. Maria Chien was the second oldest sibling of five, born to Nguyen Manh Van and Duong Thi Mien. Chien married in 1948 to Khai Q Tran. In 1954, she moved from Northern Vietnam to Southern Vietnam. She had eight children. Unfortunately, the first son passed away at a young age. Seven of her children remain, 2 sons and 5 daughters, yet only one daughter still lives in Vietnam.
In 1988, her husband died due to illness. Years passed and she immigrated to the United States in 1992. Soon after her arrival, she became very invested in the Vietnamese Church Community. Maria, a devout and faithful Catholic, was a member and a communicant of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in North Albany, were she attended the Vietnamese mass. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. On August 12th, 2018 at 1905 hours, she answered the Lord’s call surrounded by children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Tuyet A Tran (and her husband & daughter) of Albany, NY, her son Luke Q Tran (and his wife & children) of Albany, NY, her daughter Thanhle Tran (and her husband & children) of Houston, TX, her daughter, Thu X Tran (and her husband & children) of Albany, NY, her daughter, Toan X Tran (and her husband & daughter) of Saigon, Vietnam, her son Thomas Tran (and his wife & children) of Albany, NY, Her daughter, Tho X Tran (and her husband & children) of Albany, NY.
Maria Chien was the sister of the late Mien T Nguyen, and is survived by her sister Chinh T Nguyen of Vietnam, her brother Khinh V Nguyen of Vietnam; and her sister Thuy T Nguyen Baton Rouge, LA.
Relatives and friends may call 4-8 PM Friday, August 24, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, where prayers will be offered at 9 AM on Saturday morning (August 25) followed by a 10 o'clock funeral mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 33 Walter Street, North Albany.
Entombment will follow the mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
