Colonie- Etta M. Wohlferd, 94, died Friday, June 8, 2018. Born on October 31, 1923 in Wakefield, Michigan to Joseph and Nellie Gilbert, she was predeceased by brothers Ronald and Percy. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University. In 1947 after WWII, Etta married her college sweetheart, Gerald Wohlferd. She was the proud mother of Sandra M. (Mrs. Richard Dietz), Beth J. (Mrs. Darrell LaShomb), James R. (Sue) Wohlferd, and Janet L. (Mrs. Matthew Durland). Also cherished were grandchildren Kristen Wilcox, Erik Dietz, Trisha LaShomb, Katie Olson, Michael LaShomb, Amie Hofner, Jill Schwab, Trinity Wohlferd, Lindsey (Mrs. Arron Greenoughs), Kate Kellman, Christian Capone, and eight great grandchildren. Second to spending time with family, Etta enjoyed traveling, bowling, dancing, and table games.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 20 at 11 am at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 1580 Central Ave, Colonie. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am at the church. Interment will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, online or 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607.
