Hazel enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends. Hazel also enjoyed playing Gin Rummy, which she usually won. Mowing on her Cub Cadet was one of her favorite past times. Her love for music was so passionate that she became a great influence on her sons, Robert and William. Hazel enjoyed visits to the recording studio and voicing her opinions. Hazel was known for her classic phrase, "Anything I can do for you?"
Hazel is survived by her children, Kenneth G. (Barbara) Lucas, Robert W. Shutter, Jr.(Deb), William J. Shutter II (Dodie Duncan); grandchildren, Kenneth G. Lucas,Jr. (Anna), Judith Gerson, Darshane M. (Tom) Praisner, Jayden M. (Jeremy) Rundell, William J. Shutter III (Elizabeth), Jaydene Miner Drew (Tom), Dawn (Dave) Wagoner, Daniel (Jamie) Ross; great grandchildren, Kenny and Amelia Lucas, Matthew and Dave Gerson, Liana, Amelia and Payton Rundell, Chance and Jett Drew, and Tyler Wagoner; and one great-great granddaughter.
Hazel was predeceased by daughter, Adrianne Lorraine Miner; sister, Alma Hotaling; brother, Frank Miller; daughter-in-law, Denise M. Shutter.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow the service at Schenectady Memorial Park Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
Donations may be made in Hazel's memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
