1933 - 2018
He was predeceased by his loving wife Fredericka (Greenfield, 1997); his parents, Antonio de Gonzague and Loretta LaChance; his sisters, Claire Dillon, Theresa Ouellette, Loretta Dashnow, Rita Ostrowidzki and his brothers Joe and Leo de Gonzague.
Philip was a well loved Social Studies teacher at South Colonie High School and church organist for various Catholic churches in the Diocese of Albany for over 40 years. He had a passion for music, history, languages and animals. He was a talented pianist and brought much joy to his family playing ragtime tunes for them at gatherings.
His family would like to thank the staff, residents and friends at Craneville Place of Dalton who graced Philip’s final years with love and friendship and became his extended family. Also thank you to his nephew Deacon Joe Romand for his invaluable assistance.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue in Colonie, NY on Monday May 14, at 9 am with a viewing at 8 am preceding the Mass. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
