Mary Ann was a woman of beauty and class who loved her family deeply. While in Ireland she studied to become a master seamstress. Her talent allowed her to replicate designer dresses. She had an eye for fashion and was flawless in her work. It was over in Ireland she also met the love of her life, William Charles. She met her handsome Marine while he was stationed in Londonderry, Ireland. He had previously served in the President’s Guard. The two wed in Ireland and came to America in 1945. Upon arrival in New York City, Mary Ann was voted most beautiful bride from Ireland. She stayed vested to her home country supporting the Irish Northern Aid and joined the Hibernian Hall of Albany, NY in the late 1960’s. She served as the Grand Marshall multiple times in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Albany, NY. As matriarch of the family; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who left behind years of wonderful memories and stories to share for generations to come.
Mary Ann is survived by her son William E. Jordan Sr. and his wife Sandra, and former daughter-in-law Patricia Scoons of East Haddam, CT, her sister Bridget Callan of Glastonbury, CT, brother, Father Edward C. Doherty of Middle Haddam, CT, by her Grandchildren: Candice and William Bowe, Tessa and William E. Jordan Jr, Theresa and Steven Short, Stephanie Jordan, and Michael Jordan, and Great grandchildren: Kylle and Annalise Jordan, Philip and Kennedy Smith, Lillian and William Bowe, Eva and Lennon Short as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by her beloved William Charles Jordan and her son Philip Jordan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Calling hours will be held from 4:30 PM to 7 PM on Friday, May 11, 2917 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet.
