Thomas P. McLaughlin
1930 - 2018
A graduate of Vincentian Institute, he served in the US Naval Reserve and worked at the NYS Health Department (where he met his soon to be wife Wanda). For many years Tom was the Purchasing Agent of the SUNY Albany Biology Department, and later at the Research Foundation of SUNY at Albany. Like his father, he was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 5 - Albany. Tom enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, golf and bowling, and was an avid baseball, basketball and Gaelic football player in his younger years. He and his family lived in Castleton-on-Hudson for many years, where he was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church, a volunteer at the Teen Center and a Little League coach. His good cheer and wonderful singing were very much appreciated at Christ the King Church, Guilderland, as well as at Millview Assisted Living, St. Peter's Nursing Home (and earlier, at the Atria Guilderland).
Viewing hours are from 4-7pm on Thursday May 17th at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. The parish of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 pm, all are welcome. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Albany. Burial at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave, Menands.
Donations may be made in his honor to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY, 12208.
