Schenectady - James Romanowski, 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.

Born on April 2, 1950 in Amsterdam, a son of the late Walter and Alfreda Ann Sawicki Romanowski. A graduate of Amsterdam High School and Excelsior College where he received his Bachelor's Degree.

James is a proud veteran of both the United States Marine Corp and the New York Army National Guard; serving in the Marines from 1970-1973 and the Army National Guard from 1985-2006. He was an avid pool player throughout most of his life, loved to learn about history and poetry; he often would write his own poetry as well. Most of all, James loved his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be sadly missed by all.

James is survived by his son, James W. Romanowski (Alison); daughter, Avis Sanchez (Andy); sister, Jeannette Parker; grandchildren, Andy Jr & Sophia Marie Sanchez, Jonah James Romanowski. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Romanowski.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 4pm until 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10am at the funeral home, followed by burial at Gerald BH Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
