Medina- Richard F. Turoski, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2017 in Rexford, NY. The son of the late Leo F. and Anna (Sevenski) Turoski, Richard was born on April 23, 1933 in Medina, NY. A graduate of Medina High School, Rich was a Mustang for life and spoke highly of the competitive spirit exhibited by the students. Rich was a Distinguished ROTC graduate of Hobart College, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the football field. The Baltimore Colts had an interest in Rich, however, he had a 6 year commitment to the US Air Force. This was the start of his esteemed career that spanned four decades. During his service he was awarded the Air Force’s highest award, the Distinguished Flying Cross for 161 combat missions flown during the Vietnam War. He was also awarded six Combat Air Medals. Upon reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he held many positions, most notably, Command of 20 megatons of Minutemen II nuclear missiles at Grand Forks AFB, ND. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Rich worked as an industrial and logistics engineer with the Boeing Aircraft Company. He was also a SEC Registered Investment Advisor, working for Shearson Lehman Brokerage firm. Rich was an avid businessman and entrepreneur. He and his wife owned Bresler’s 33 Flavors Ice Cream Shops in Shreveport, LA. They also owned several apartment buildings that were turned into YWAC Homes for Abused Women. Upon his retirement from all of his ventures, he returned to his hometown of Medina, NY where he was a fixture in the town, being seen daily at the diner for breakfast or lunch and a stop at the library where he would read the paper and check his stocks on the computer. Rich Turoski was a true Patriot who loved his Country and stood tall among other great Statesman. Richard is survived by his children: Richard (Cynthia) Turoski, Jr. and their children: Richard III, Victoria and Alexandra; John A. (Margaret) Turoski and their sons: John, Jr. and Michael; Diane Lynn Turoski and her son Joseph (Nicole) Turoski and their children: Joey, Jr., Sophia and Noah; Ann M. (Jack) Corrao and their children: Amanda and Sara; Rich is also survived by his former wife, Elaine Antoinette (Pogorzelski) Turoski.
