Robert Michael "Bob" Mandarano
1932 - 2017

Rotterdam - Robert Michael Mandarano, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Jamesville, NY to the late Bartoly and Lila Mandarano. Robert was the devoted husband to the late Carol Janet Mandarano. . They were married 58 years.

Bob was a dedicated teacher for over thirty years and was an inspirational mentor to many of the children he taught.

"After graduating from Marathon High School, he attended SUNY Cortland where he obtained his teaching degree. Due to a lack of positions, he joined the army and was stationed at the Pentagon. This is where he met his beautiful wife Carol. They were married shortly after and moved back to Upstate NY. He received his masters degree from SUNY Oneonta on the GI bill. As far as his hobbies go, he was an avid bowler. After many years of bowling with the same the league, Bob leaves behind many trophies awarding him for his bowling career including three perfect games. Growing up in a rural community surrounded by agriculture, he had an exceptional talent for gardening. Some may say that this is an understatement when looking at his impeccable, beautiful, colorful and abundant gardens. He inspired many throughout his teaching career. Many students have expressed that "Mr.Mandarano was my favorite teacher!" He created an environment that was safe, expressive, inspiring and respectful. He allowed each child to be themselves and to have a voice at a very young age. His methods were unique and one of a kind. Above all, was the love and joy for his family. From bazar nicknames to outrageous inside jokes which instilled laughter that will be forever in our memory. "

Bob is survived by his children, Michele (John) Battagioli, Michael (Carolyn) Mandarano, Renee Mandarano; five grandchildren, Rachael, Eric (Nicole), Hope, Garrett, Connor and one great grandson, Owen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitations will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Gabriel's Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Rotterdam on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY at 1:30 pm.
