Born on March 10, 1952 in Northern New York, just shy of Tug Hill Plateau, a son of the late Lauren Stedman and Lulu Clemens. Hollis grew up in Camden, New York and later relocated to Naples, New York; graduating from high school in 1970.

Hollis is a Retired United States Navy Veteran, proudly serving his country from 1975-1995. He was first assigned to the Plymouth Rock LSD-29 from 1976-1979, the USS Portland LSD-37 from 1982-1984; was in the Mediterranean off the coast of Beirut, Lebanon in 1983. Hollis was initiated as a Chief Petty Officer in 1991 and retired in 1995. He was employed at the Military Entrance Processing Station in Albany in 1999, retiring in 2013.

Hollis spent much of his leisure time in his beloved Adirondacks with family and friends; camping, fishing and paddling his kayak on the calm mountain waters.

Hollis is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Diane Sharp Stedman; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Stedman of Boonville, New York; two step-daughters, Jill Bellows (David) of Scotia and Julie Brennan of Niskayuna; five step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. He was predeceased by his father, Lauren E. Stedman of Osceola and mother, Lulu F. Merritt of Camden and his step daughter, Jennifer L. Brennan of Altamont.

A memorial service will be held on March 10, 2018 at 11am at Altamont Reformed Church, 129 Lincoln Ave. Altamont, 12009.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion or the American Legion Riders of Helderberg Post #977, P.O. Box 461, Altamont, Ny. 12009.
