SELKIRK-John J. Thomas, 84 passed away on December 17, 2014 at Stratton VA Medical Center with his loving companion and family by his side. He was born in Albany, NY the son of the late George Thomas, Sr. and Helen (Greene) Thomas. He has resided in Selkirk most of his life. John was a veteran, having served in the US Army and US Navy. He was a member of Local Union #12 in Albany, where he was an Iron Worker for many years. John and his loving companion Lucille loved traveling together.
John is survived by his son Garry J. Thomas (Lois Mulligan) and his loving grandchildren Garry Thomas, Jr., Shawn Thomas, and Jennifer Thomas. Great grandchildren Brittany Rupp, Alexis Bradt, Jannel Ovalle and his grandchildren in New Hampshire. John’s loving companion of 43 years Lucille Brennen and her son Ted Danz, Sr. and her grandchildren Todd Danz, Ted Danz, Jr., and Tim Danz. He is also survived by a sister Elizabeth Buehler Langwish.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by two brothers George Thomas, Jr. and Robert Thomas and by four sisters Rose Crewell, Helen Link, Marion Cotugno, and Ethel Conklin.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
