ALBANY- Brenda Joyce Hughes Robinson, 63, passed away on Saturday, November 01, 2014, at St. Peter’s Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Brenda was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 15, 1951, to the late George and Dessie Mae Hughes. As a young child Brenda moved from Chicago, to Mississippi, finally settling in Albany, NY with her parents and siblings. She is predeceased by a host of friends and family including her son-in-law, Louis Gipson.

Brenda leaves behind her children: Demetrius (Henderson) Germon, Danielle Gipson, Demile (Thomas) Gilmore, Benita (Rodney Goggins) Robinson, her grandchildren: Damara, Da-Min, Brianna, Miles, Kendall, Ariyona, Kareem and Libby, her siblings: Carolyn, Rosalyn, George, and Tina Marie, her former husband, Talbot P. Robinson Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends.

Brenda will be remembered for her love of cooking (for her family and friends), singing, dancing, puzzles, and reading. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and caregiver to whoever needed. She was a keeper of the family ancestry, a skilled story teller who could make you laugh, cry and scared from the same story! She was encouraging in her own way to everyone and always told her love ones to “do better!”

In keeping with Brenda’s wishes, Brenda will be interred on November 26, 2014 at 10:00 am at Graceland Cemetery. Immediately following, the family will hold a Celebration of Life event at Brenda’s residence on November 26, 2014. Address is: 101 South Pearl Street, Albany, New York. All are welcome to both events.

The family requests donations to the Regional Foodbank of Northeastern New York in lieu of flowers: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1415634 . Please make donations, “In Memory of Brenda J. Robinson”.
