In Memory Of
Richard A. Dacey
1943 - 2015
He was born on August 21, 1943, son of the late Thomas and Florence Dacey (Szesnat) in Albany, NY.
Richard was a very charitable and kind man. He spent much of his time volunteering for various causes including most recently Circles of Mercy: Catherine's Closet. He was a Navy Veteran and a lifetime member of many organizations including the VFW Post #7338, the Clinton Heights American Legion, the Colonie Elks, and the Rensselaer Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of AA and loved helping others by acting as a sponsor for those who were struggling. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Church in East Greenbush and spoke highly of his friends there. Richard loved to travel and was a thrill seeker. He recently went on a trip to Hawaii and insisted on zip lining down a mountain and hiking down a treacherous path to a waterfall. He loved life and embraced every moment of it. Richard's greatest love was his family and specifically being a good father and grandfather.
Richard leaves behind his devoted daughter Colleen Donovan and her husband, Sean Donovan who he loved like a son. He also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, Samantha and Dominick Siciliano and their mother, Margaret (Dacey) Siciliano. He will be remembered by his three brothers, William (Billy) Dacey, Ronald (Jackie) Dacey, Leo Dacey and his wife Carol Dacey, several nieces and nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends including Ronald Stannard and Margaret Dacey who cared for him above and beyond any expectations.
A funeral service for Richard will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home at 10am. Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm. Graveside services with military honors will be held immediately following funeral services at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Circles of Mercy located at 11 Washington Street, Rensselaer, NY 12144 or online at http://www.circlesofmercy.org/donate.html
