DELMAR-Edward C. Filkins, 75, of Delmar, NY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. He was born in Albany, NY on February 13, 1940, the son of the late Charles Edward and Lenore (Irish) Filkins. Eddie was a decorated Vietnam veteran and he worked as a Unit Administrator for the United States Reserves in both civilian and reservist capacities. He enjoyed sports, particularly baseball and football. He was an avid NY Giants fan. Eddie was entertaining and told a good story.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 33 years Donna L. Walsh and his children Eve Marie and Scott Edward. He is also survived by his brothers David and Michael Filkins; sister Barbara Cross; and sisters in law Karen (Stephen) Simmons and her children Mathew and Emily and Rosalyn (Christopher) Kopach and their son David and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Doris Keeler and Evelyn Curso.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12 p.m.
Interment will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
