Lawrence Paul Schmidt, 64, of Albany, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA with his loving family by his side.


Born in Amsterdam, Lawrence was the son of the late Clarence and Naomi (McKeon) Schmidt. He was the devoted husband of Janice (Lemme) Schmidt. Together they were married 11 years. Loving father of Lisa Covell and Marc Wlodkowski. Cherished grandfather of Dominic and Vanessa Covel. Dearest brother of the late Mabel Schmidt of Wagstaff, PA, William Humphrey of Schenectady, Clarence (Elizabeth) Schmidt of N.H., Margaret Schmidt Lupi of Schenectady, Edward (Marsha) Schmidt of F.L., the late Frank (Christine) Schmidt of Schenectady. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

For 30 years, Larry was employed by the Town of Niskayuna Highway Department, where he retired from. His last position as the Supervisor of Parks. He was an Air Force Veteran (1975-1979) and received and honorable discharge for his faithful service.

Larry was an avid golfer and was a member of Maqua Major Golf League in Schenectady.

Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Thursday July 19th, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, where funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gift of Life Family House, 401 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123.
