Albany - Florence C. Mele, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn following a long illness.

Florence was an operating room Nurse at the VA Hospital for 35 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening. She was a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her famous pizza, and sauce and meatballs. She was a die hard Met's fan and never missed a game. She also never missed an Engelbert Humperdinck concert and was a fan for many years. Florence was an active member of All Saints Church. She will be dearly missed.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years Louis S. Mele and her 2 sisters, Virginia (Robert) McCormick and Janet James.

Florence is survived by her children, Vincent and Debra Mele; her grandchildren, Louis and Natalia; her 2 beloved cats, King Louie and Zeus and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Florence on Friday July 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at All Saints Church, 16 Homestead St. Albany (Behind CVS). Burial will be private to the family.

Memorial contributions may be made name to the or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
