John was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. John was a tinkerer and enjoyed fixing anything and everything. He was always around to help family and neighbors with anything they needed. John was an excellent mechanic and worked for Valley equipment before working for NYS Dept. of Health as a mechanic.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Angie Belcher, Maria Center, Hellen Lavender (Glen), John B. Wager Jr. (Donna) and Linda Peacock, his siblings, Dottie, Lenny, Hellen, Vickey, Billy and Chuck. John is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
John is predeceased by his first wife Hannah and their daughter Hannah (Bill) and John’s second wife Jean.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral home with interment following at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors.
