In Memory Of
Theodore Carl "Teddy Bear" Potenski
1927 - 2018
He served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. While working in his family business, he studied at and graduated from NYU with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He enjoyed a long career at the NYS Department of Transportation until he retired in 1990. He was an avid golfer, bowler, pool and card player and later on discovered the joys of creating beautiful pictures. Some of his greatest memories were his short missionary trips to Nigeria, Australia and New Zealand. He shared his Christian faith often and always said "God bless you" lifting the spirits of everyone he met.
In addition to his wife, Theodore is survived by his daughter Sandra Akyuz (Metin), grandchildren - Serra and Kerem, niece Linda Duval-Lamoureux (Richard) and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was truly blessed with a wide circle of friends who became as precious as family and many considered him to be mentor, father figure and adopted grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A funeral ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 11:30am at the funeral home.
