CLIFTON PARK - J. Patrick McCarthy, 85, went into the arms of his savior on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Mary Ryan and Patrick McCarthy.

Pat was a 1950 graduate of LaSalle School. His life-long passion for education continued as he attended Catholic University, Fordham and St. Rose. He attended the Berlitz School of Languages and in 1980 was awarded the Hays-Fullbright Scholarship to Chili. He co-authored the EMC Exploratory Language Program.

He cherished his teaching career both during his time at C.B.A. and at Lansingburgh H.S. in Troy, where he later retired. He also enjoyed hunting with his dogs and fishing. He will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege to know and love him.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Horan (Michael) of Guilderland; nephews, Michael (Lynn), Tim, Patrick (Megan); nieces, Judi Weatherhead (Tom) and Mary Jo (Fred) Goodman and several great nieces and great nephews and many friends.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY.
