Latham---Helen Anne Rider (McGeough) 90, of Latham, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Albany Memorial hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 19, 1927 in Albany, Helen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette McGeough. Predeceased by her husband Harry, brother Joey and cherished son Chris, Helen is survived by her son Michael (Joann), grandsons Marcus and Joshua. Her daughter- in-law Nancy and granddaughters Jennifer and Ali. Her sister Margie Lansing (Ronald) several nieces and nephews, her Carondolet family and her lifelong friend Marie Bondi. Helen also leaves behind her dear friend Mary Anne McDonald and her surrogate granddaughter Abbey and the boys from “Helen’s Hideaway.” Helen held a special place in her heart for her beloved niece Karen Coleman who provided much care and comfort in her final year. Everyone has a story but Helen’s journey was remarkable for its challenges and how she overcame them with grace, faith and irascible humor to become an inspiration to many. Helen will be truly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen’s family Friday, April 20, 2018 10:30 – 11:00 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham. Helen’s funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests friends consider making a donation in memory of Helen to the charity of your choice.
