Rensselaer - Nicholas Anthony Cristo, 89, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy. The son of the late Michael Cristo and Tomasina (Verrelli) Cristo, Nicholas was born August 28, 1928 in Albany, NY. He served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Nicholas was a jack-of-all-trades and incredibly talented with his hands. He owned and operated Cristo Brothers Inc. with his brother Sebastian. He was a loving and devoted father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. (Sweeney) Cristo, Michelle Cristo, Maria A. Cristo; sisters, Mary K. Farinacci and Christine Turdo; brother, Michael P. Cristo; and two grandchildren, Brandon Sweeney and Basil Boyer.

In addition to his parents, Nicholas was predeceased by his wife Patricia Ann (Smith) Cristo; daughters, Tomasina Cristo, and Nicole (Barenco) Cristo; and brother, Sebastian Cristo.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, March 23 at The Parish of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph, 53 Herrick St, Rensselaer, NY 12144. A Mass of Roman Catholic Burial will be at 12 noon at the church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nicholas’ name to The Leukemia Foundation.
