DELMAR- Robert A. Knapp, 89, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family.

Bob was born in Albany, NY on December 17, 1928 to the late Robert and Helen Knapp. Bob served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at RPI in 1956. In 1959, Bob married the love of his life, Dorothy. They were married for 60 years and together raised two children. He was a loyal employee to General Electric for over 30 years retiring in 1987. Bob was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Albany, NY, where he served as president and treasurer. Bob will be remembered for his love of golf, bowling, and stamp collecting. His passion in life was his family.

Bob is predeceased by his beloved sister, Marilyn Bunnecke.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, his children, Jeff (Heather) Knapp, and Karen (Ken) Kaliski, his four grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Leah, and Eli, his brother, Russ Knapp, and many, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 10:00am-12:00pm with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
