Jules J. Ringer
1937 - 2018

DALLAS, TX - Jules J. Ringer, 80, passed away on January 15, 2018. He was born in Cohoes, N.Y. on November 17, 1937, to the late Samuel and Edith (Kelman) Ringer. He received his early education in Cohoes, where he was president of his senior class at Cohoes High School. Jules went on to graduate from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell Law School.

Jules was an attorney for decades in both New York City and Dallas. However, he traveled to the Albany area frequently to visit family and check on the progress of his hometown’s revitalization. He never missed a chance to return to Remsen Street, once home to his family’s former business, National Furniture.

Jules was a nationally-ranked squash player and two-time club champion at the Harmonie Club in New York City. In his seventies, he could still give players of all ages a run for their money. Along with being a lover of the arts, he rarely missed a Dallas Cowboys or Mavericks game. Jules will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends, as well as for never walking down a city street without peeking in a restaurant window and checking out the menu. He was quick to capture that last scoop of ice cream in the freezer or the one remaining cookie in the cabinet, and he enjoyed every bite. Although he grew to accept -- if not embrace -- modern technology, Jules preferred writing a letter to sending an email or text, and his various daily newspapers were always read in print, not online.

Jules is survived by his loving partner of 27 years, Pamela Kramer. He also leaves behind his devoted children, Jason (Mary) Ringer and Jill Montag. He was the proud grandfather of Sawyer Montag and James Ringer; brother to Fred (Denise) Ringer; and uncle to Samara (Ryan) Bushey and Jordan (Anxhela) Ringer. Jules was predeceased by his sister, Doris Ringer.

A graveside service will be held at the Hebrew Tailor’s Association Cemetery, Western Avenue, in Guilderland, N.Y. on Thursday, January 18 at 2 pm. For directions or to sign the online family guestbook, visit: www.newcomeralbany.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or www.alz.org.
