Schenectady- Edith M. DiCaprio, 87, entered into rest on January 15, 2018 at Baptist Health Nursing and Rehab in Scotia. The daughter of the late Liberto and Quinta (Patracco) Stassi, Edith was born on July 27, 1930 in Schenectady, NY. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School. After high school she met and married Pasquale “Pat” DiCaprio from Guilderland. He predeceased her in 2006 after 51 wonderful years of marriage. She was a dedicated wife and mother, staying home to raise her three children. She was a devoted Christian, and early on attended church many times per week. Edith was a talented cook and baker and no one ever left her home hungry. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving children: Emerina “Amy” DiCaprio, Liberto “Lee” (Denise) DiCaprio and Peter DiCaprio; her grandchildren: Brittney (Anthony) Artese, Dustin DiCaprio and Danielle DiCaprio; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by her feline companion, Bella, who she loved with all of her heart.
In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was predeceased by her brother, Peter Stassi.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Baptist Health for their compassionate and loving care, especially her aide, Lily.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 6:30 pm on Friday, January 19 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Edith’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
