1963 - 2017

Albany-Richard Mahoney, 54, formerly of Albany, NY passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 12, 2017 while visiting his brothers for the holidays.

The youngest of five children, he was born in Albany, NY to Thomas and Elizabeth Mahoney and was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Albany High School.

Richard is survived by his two children; Eric and Sydney Mahoney of Danville, VA; three brothers, Thomas Mahoney (Rosemary) of Colonie, NY, Robert Mahoney (Linda) of Center Brunswick, NY, Michael Mahoney (Janice) of Greenville, NY and his sister, Mary (Mahoney) LeClair (Wayne) of Dillsburg, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard loved his children Eric and Sydney, camping and picnics, and was a major New York Giants fan.
Richard was the first owner of Cravings candy and nut shop in Albany, NY until he and his family moved to Danville, VA where they opened an ice cream shop. He later worked for Pepsi in Lynchburg, VA until he moved to Harrisburg, PA and worked at the Reese’s Plant in Hershey, PA.


Richard was a devoted catholic and a member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Harrisburg, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday, December 18th, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 9am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Avenue, Albany with a prayer service being held prior at 8:15am at the funeral home. Interment will follow the mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Avenue, Menands.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's name can be made to The Blessed Sacraments Food Pantry.
