ROTTERDAM - Donald Francis Igoe, 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in the Arbor Hill section of Albany, he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Elizabeth (Clapper) Igoe. Donald moved to Colonie in 1955 and resided in Rotterdam from 1967 until 2017. Educated at Our Lady of Angels and Christian Brothers Academy, he graduated in 1947 and continued his education at Siena College, attending classes at night.

Donald was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War having served on the destroyer USS Holder. He was the chief clerk for the National Biscuit Company for 11 years and retired in 1987 from US Airways as an Operations Agent after 28 years. He was a member of Ambrose J. Scully American Legion Post 1019 and also a member of AARP since the age of 55. Donald was a devout communicant of St. Gabriel’s Church in Rotterdam.

Donald is survived by his devoted wife, Carol E. (Radigan) Igoe, whom he married on May 1, 1965. Loving father of Valerie (David) Beck of Rotterdam and Michelle (Joseph) Jarvais also of Rotterdam. Cherished grandfather to Cody, Kyle and Keegan Jarvais and Tyler and Tara Beck. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Thomas, Russell and Robert Igoe.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 17th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 18th, at 12 noon at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St., Schenectady. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 40 No. Main Ave., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Donald F. Igoe.
