She was born on May 8, 1931 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Rose Pazienza.
May retired in 1990 from the NYS Dept. of Social Services as an Administrative Assistant or as she preferred to be called, "Super Secretary". She loved tennis (especially winning matches) well into her 70's.
She was a devoted wife and cherished the many trips she and her husband Albert took together. She was full of life and loved to spend time with her family. She adored her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by her loving family. Her loving heart and wonderful sense of humor will always be remembered.
May was a member of St. Madeleine Sophie Church and a member of their Plus 50 Club, a member of the AARP Local Chapter 980 and a member of Sportime Tennis Club.
May was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Albert Engel, her siblings, Mary (Dick), Vito (Pat) and Joseph (Emily).
Anna May is survived by her loving children, Thomas A. Engel (Laura), Michael L. Engel (Cathy), Roseann M. Czajkowski (Jan), Diane E. Vetrone (Joseph) and Sharon J. Field (Jeff); her cherished grandchildren, Lori (Eric), Carol Lyn (Rob), Thomas Jr., Christopher, Bryan, Megan (Owen), Matthew, Kristina, Shane and Jordan; her cherished great-grandchildren, Robbie, Ryan, Natalie, Mason and Raelynn; her brother, Frank Pazienza (Vicky) and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady, all are welcomed to attend. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
May was an active contributor to many organizations including, the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Foundation, Bishop's Appeal Fund and St. Madeleine Sophie Church. To honor her memory, contributions may be made to one of the many causes she supported.
