Albany, NY - On November 28, 2017 at St. Peters Rehabilitation Nursing Center, Robert F. Anderson, Sr., 88, entered peacefully into eternal life.

Born June 3, 1929 in Albany NY, Robert was the 5th of 9 children. He was the son of the late Charles L. Anderson and Mary Jane (Parker) Anderson-Kent and the step-son of the late William Kent.

Robert was a Korean War Veteran and served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952.

He graduated from the DeVry Technical Institute with a degree in Electronical Instrumentation & Control. He worked for the Norton Company in Watervliet NY before retiring.

In 1954, he married Mary C. Weldon and they had 5 children, Linda, Cindy, Robert Jr., Maggie and Leonard.

Robert was a member of the Bridgeline Historical Society, the National Association of Railroad Passengers, the Empire State Passenger Association, and was a devote railroad/train fan.

He served as an assistant scout master for Troop 77 from 1970 to 1975 for his son Robert, and again from 1978 to 1983 for his son Leonard.

Robert was an active member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the PA committee recording the church service for many years. Robert and his wife delivered altar flowers for many years to the hospitalized and homebound members of St. Johns.

Robert leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Mary C. (Weldon) Anderson, his daughters, Linda (Gerald) Casso, Cindy (Mark) Dagostino, both of Rotterdam, Maggie Anderson of Colonie, his sons, Robert F. Anderson, Jr. of Albuquerque NM, and Leonard (Pam) Anderson of Rensselaer, his grandchildren, Richard (Tracey) Willey of Campbell Hall, Robert (Michele) Willey of Rotterdam, Dexter Boni of Schenectady, Daniel (Melissa) Boni of Slingerlands, Christopher (Virginia) Anderson and Michael Anderson both of Brunswick, Moriah, Chelsea (Brad Morse), and Victoria Anderson all of Colonie. He is also the proud great-grandfather of Tyler and Hailey Willey, Devin and Kayla Boni, Rachael and Daniel Jr. Boni, Charlotte and Christopher Jr. Anderson, and Adonis Anderson-Slater.

Robert is also survived by sister-in-law, Geraldine Kent of Schenectady, brother-in-law Jim Kipp of West Sand Lake, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Robert was predeceased by brothers Charles, Donald, Arthur, William, Richard, William Kent, and by sisters, Joyce Ann Meeks and Mary Jane Kipp.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to St. Peters Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for their compassion, professionalism, and overall hospitality during Robert’s time of care and in his final days.

Calling hours will be Sunday, December 3rd from 4pm to 7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road in Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 4th at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery on Sand Creek Road in Colonie.
