Albany - Louis J. Luciano, 81, passed away peacefully at Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital on November 14, 2017. The son of the late Vincent Luciano and Antoinette Choppy (Gonya), Louis was born on December 28, 1935 in Albany, NY. Lou served his country honorably and faithfully in the US Army. He was married to Doris E. Dietz, who was his childhood sweetheart. She predeceased him after 56 wonderful years of marriage. Lou was a City of Albany Firefighter for 37 years and was a member of the Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007.
An avid lover of movies since his youth, he had an extensive collection of films and serials dating back to the 1930s. He was a fervent reader with a penchant for true stories and WWII history. He enjoyed his daily coffee, crossword puzzles, and watching the NY Mets.

Lou is survived by his loving children: Lynda (Mike) Peckowitz and Bill (Jackie) Luciano; his beloved grandchildren: Brad (Anna) Dwyer, Tracy (Nick) Burns, Kimberly Peckowitz (Gianleo Duca), Chris Luciano, Marc Peckowitz and Julie Luciano; his cherished great-grandchildren: Patrick, Joseph, Maria, Matthew and Michael; his siblings: Albert Luciano, Holly Gonya Smith and Maria Gonya (Steve Silvano). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Gerald Luciano.

Visitation will be from 12 pm to 3 pm on Sunday, November 19 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the privacy of the family.
