Pastor Chester W. Gapczynski, a man loved by all he touched, passed away November 5th, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady NY.

The oldest Son of late Chester and Sadie Gapczynski, brother of David, Richard, William and James was born in Schenectady NY, on January 17th, 1939.

Shortly after graduating from high school in 1958 from Nott Terrace, he went into business for himself and co-founded the Marriot Fruits and Florist on route 5 Schenectady. Several years later the company expanded to a second store on route 50 in Scotia NY. The store remained in existence for 17 years. In 1984 he sold the business and went to bible school in Lima NY at Elim Bible Institute. After three years of study he moved back to his home town of Schenectady and became the Senior Pastor of Shiloh Community Church on the corner of 5th and Congress Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Chet served this community 36 years to present day.

Chet married his childhood sweetheart Doreen Preston in 1958. They met at age 12 and 13 having a life together that spanned 64 amazing years. He was a strong, hardworking, loving, caring man. In 1967 Chet and Doreen moved from their home in Schenectady to their dream home on Division St. in Charlton, NY where they raised their two children Chester and Michelle. Chester, Michelle & Joe (husband) absolutely love and adore their father! He was their Hero…… He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren Joey and Jocelyn (Michelle and Joe) Jordan, Chester (incy chet), Taylor and Ryleigh (Chet Jr.)

Memorial services will be held in his Honor on November 17th at 7:00 PM at Shiloh Church 951 Congress street Schenectady NY.

Pastor Chet’s Children are looking to set an investment fund for Mom (Doreen) as Pastor Chet was the sole source of income for their home. Any contribution received will be placed in this fund and all are welcome.
