Guilderland- Josephine M. Mavilla, 90, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital. Born on March 5, 1927 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Josephine was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rose (Puccia) Zocco. She attended Poughkeepsie High School and Spencer Business College. Josephine was married to Salvatore Mavilla, he predeceased her in 1997. She had a passion for ballet and reading, and was a generous supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Orazio J. Zocco and George E. Zocco and her sister, Caterina A. Zocco. A special thank you to Harold and Linda Crusan for their compassion and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, October 24 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Carmen Road, Schenectady, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
