Glenmont- George A. Varin 80, passed away peacefully Friday, September 15, 2017. He was a loving father to Patricia Thompson, grandfather to Heather Miller and Adam Thompson, and great-grandfather to Sean Edmonds and Rebecca Domke. Born in Plattsburgh NY he was one of 15 children to parents Vivian G. Varin and Dollie E. Varin (Passino). George was an auto mechanic for over 50 years who always helped anyone in need. He enjoyed going to camp on the weekends and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, close family friend Janet Diegel, Jean Wicks (Emma and Ella Wicks), sisters, Agnus Dumal, Alberta Caccioppo, Theresa Schager, Priscilla Varin, Connie Brault and brothers Norman, Leon, Paul, Roger, and Vivian Varin and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert, Gene, Rufus, and Theodore Varin.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 19 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 20 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Glenmont.
