Marion J. Farlin of Schenectady passed away on August 16, 2017. Born on May 2nd, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bernice Farlin. She is also predeceased by her two sisters, Margaret McGee and Jean Fullen.

Marion graduated from Denison University in Ohio in 1945. She taught at Butler Ohio High School for one year, going on to attain her master’s degree from Syracuse University in 1948. She worked for GE in Schenectady as an engineering assistant. She then went on to medical school, earning her doctorate from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency at Ellis Hospital and a fellowship in endocrinology at King’s County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She had a private practice in Schenectady and directed the outpatient medical clinic at Ellis until she retired in 1986. After retiring, she served as a medical officer with Project USA offering health services to families on Native American Reservations and performed various medical work abroad. Marion is grateful to have had the opportunity to provide medical care to the communities she served.

She owned her own camp on Schroon Lake where she loved to play golf, garden, swim and fish. She loved opening her camp to family and friends, especially for family reunions.

Marion is survived by seven nieces and nephews and twelve great nieces and great nephews.

Services for Marion will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Schenectady Inner City Ministry Food Pantry, 1055 Wendell Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12308.
